The president of the Family Division of the High Court has called for unmarried cohabiting couples to be given an equal share of assets in the event of a relationship breakdown.

According to the Guardian, Sir Nicholas Wall believes such reform is necessary because of the unfairness of the current system, which often leaves one partner, usually the woman, at a disadvantage when it comes to the division of assets.
